IHI Terrasun Solutions Buyer Map

Jared Spence | IHI Terrasun Solutions | October 2026

As of 14 Oct 2026

IHI Terrasun designs, integrates, controls and services battery energy storage projects for solar and energy storage developers in North America.

This map covers the kinds of organizations that develop, own and run those projects, how many of them there are where a clean public count exists, and who usually signs off on design, integration, controls and field service at each.

Where the buyers sit

Organizations that develop, own or operate solar and battery storage plants in the United States. A group without a clean public code says so rather than showing a number.

Who signs off at each group

Titles vary by organization. These are the roles that usually own the decision for each kind of work IHI Terrasun sells.

GroupUsually signs offWhat they decide
Project developersVP of Engineering, Director of Energy Storage, VP of DevelopmentBattery and inverter selection, front-end design, who integrates and commissions
Solar plant owners and operatorsDirector of Asset Management, VP of OperationsAdding storage to existing solar sites, plant controls, long-term service
Owners of standalone storage plantsHead of Energy Storage, Director of OperationsControls, monitoring, preventive and corrective maintenance after commercial operation
Distribution utilities and cooperativesDirector of Grid Modernization, Manager of Distributed Energy ResourcesUtility-owned storage, grid compliance, service contracts
Engineering and construction contractorsDirector of Procurement, Project DirectorIntegration and commissioning partners on a given build
Asset managers and infrastructure ownersAsset Manager, VP of Asset ManagementWarranty handling, field service coverage, performance reporting

When the decision gets made

Design and equipment choices are made early, before a developer commits to a battery or inverter maker. The engineering lead and the development lead usually decide together, and procurement follows.

Integration, commissioning and controls are bought as a project moves toward energization, often with the construction contractor at the table.

Field service, monitoring and warranty support are bought after commercial operation, by the operations or asset management team that has to keep the plant available.

Why multi-vendor matters to these buyers

Owners running plants built on more than one battery or inverter maker need one team that can troubleshoot across all of them and coordinate warranty claims. That is the gap IHI Terrasun describes on its own site, and it is a question every owner of a mixed fleet already has to answer.

Where to start

Developers before equipment selection

Reach the engineering and development leads at storage developers while battery and inverter choices are still open. Front-end design is the earliest point IHI Terrasun can enter a project, and it leads naturally into integration and controls.

Solar owners adding storage

Solar plant owners adding DC-coupled or collocated storage need plant controls that meet utility and grid operator rules. Their asset management and operations leads are the people to reach with controls and integration.

Operating plants that need service

Owners and asset managers with storage already in operation buy preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, monitoring and warranty support. A multi-vendor fleet is the clearest fit for field service offered across battery and inverter makers.

Built from public federal registries and the company's own website, counts banded deliberately.
